  • Katy The One-Eyed Cat

    Tony Dunne

eBook (Northgate Information Publishers, April 16, 2013)
Katy The One-Eyed Cat is a beautifully illustrated children’s picture book. It tells the heartwarming tale of an injured, disabled cat and how she finds a new home after being left to fend for herself. It is based loosely on a true story. Every year thousands of cats find themselves without a home and most are left to survive on their own as best they can. Some, like Katy, are lucky enough to be taken in by animal lovers. If they themselves cannot provide a home, the cats are taken to local animal sanctuaries where they are cared for until new homes can be found.Katy was also hampered by disability. Not only was she injured, but the mistreatment she had been victim to had resulted in her losing an eye, making it even more difficult to find a home for her. But disabled cats deserve to have good homes too and the story of Katy The One-Eyed Cat ends happily for all concerned, including those who found her, those who cared for her and those who adopted her. Not least, of course, the story ends happily for Katy herself and shows the importance of caring for all animals, including those who are disabled, as well as those who have been the victims of terrible cruelty.
  • Doolan the Doughnut Dragon of Dunganoon: A fully illustrated picture book for kids 9 to 12

    Tony Dunne

eBook (Northgate Information Publishers, Aug. 27, 2013)
Doolan the Doughnut Dragon of Dunganoon is a fully illustrated children’s picture book. It tells the story of a dragon who thought he was a horse. (But whoever heard of a green horse?) Doolan is helped to discover his true identity by Sally the Little Orphan Girl. Together with Gnorbitt the Gnome, they all save the village of Dunganoon from a wicked band of bandits, who try to convince the people of the town that a ferocious dragon has returned to burn it to the ground. Along the way, there is much mayhem and skulduggery, as well as a large dollop of courage from our brave heroes. Oh, and there are doughnuts. Doolan the Doughnut Dragon of Dunganoon is the only book published this year to make the fairly obvious point that it’s easier to be brave when bravery is accompanied by a little of what you fancy. And if you are concerned about how bad doughnuts are for your children’s health, the publishers wish to point out that Doolan, Sally and Gnorbitt all eat specially prepared doughnuts made in Dunganoon’s bakery from the best and most healthy ingredients. How else would Doolan have the strength and the fitness to win the battle of Dunganoon?
